Introduction

ad

Twenty-Four Seven is dedicated to being "A Voice Of Law Enforcement" a paper that will provide wide range of information -- from local stories of interest, important historical events and current issues, up to and including recent crime trends and equipment updates. Those of us in the law enforcement field are always looking to expand our knowledge base and we, at Twenty-Four Seven, think that this is a perfect venue to do just that. What better, more direct way to communicate with one another and our communities than through a newspaper that relates our experiences, stories and perspectives as law enforcement personnel.

What started as a small local paper 22-month ago has grown into a well-known and respected newspaper. Twenty-Four Seven was initially distributed free to all branches of law enforcement in British Columbia, Alberta and Washington State and had a readership of approximately 15,000 sworn and civilian staff personnel. In those short 22-months, Twenty-Four Seven has expanded into 26 States, 5 Provinces and 3 Territories with additional subscriptions going across Canada, the United States and as far away as Iraq and England.

With a growing readership of some 40,000 sworn and civilian members of various law enforcement branches, Twenty-Four Seven continues to distribute its paper free to all law enforcement officers.

Advertising

For you, the advertiser, Twenty-Four Seven provides direct access to a specific target group within the populace. As one may well expect, those same people are very active in a wide range of activities throughout our communities, including: sports, computers, travel and entertainment just to name a few. In addition, the average family income of those in the law enforcement community tends to be significantly higher than the national average.

Twenty-Four Seven believes that the print media continues to offer you, the advertiser, greater value for your money. Accountability through readership and circulation, flexibility of size, design and layout of ads, as well as reaching a specific target group are all benefits of the print media. Twenty-Four Seven is committed to providing a professional and accurate medium for your advertising needs, and we look forward to having you join us during this exciting time.

History

RCMP Memorial

At the memorial service honouring four fallen RCMP officers killed in the line of duty by Mayerthorpe, AB

Twenty-Four Seven has grown from the efforts of two lower mainland police officers who originally started out honoring the memories of officers killed in the line of duty in their department. That project took a year in the making and culminated in the web site that can be seen at www.policememorial.ca. Having believed that their objective had been achieved, the two continued to research the history of their department with an eye towards potentially updating department records and museum information.

However on September 11, 2001, our world and the world of emergency services were changed forever with the terrorist attacks on the United States. In Vancouver, Canada, Twenty-Four Seven had commemorative decals were quickly designed with the help of a local decal company, and within hours decals by donation were handed out on street corners. Within weeks, and with the generous help of co-workers, friends, civilians and numerous other law enforcement agencies throughout the country, we managed to raise over $215,000 for the NYPD Heroes Fund. This project concluded when the cheque was delivered to the NYPD on December 8, 2001, however, it was not the end of our efforts to rediscover the memories of those killed in the line of duty.

The Editors of Twenty-Four Seven then opted to take on the much larger task of researching and documenting all law enforcement officers killed in British Columbia since 1858, a project that has brought many family members, co-workers and friends into our lives. Although the project is not yet complete, you can see our work in progress at www.bcfallenheroes.com.

This brings us to Twenty-Four Seven "A Voice of Law Enforcement," a newspaper by, for and about law enforcement. We started Twenty-Four Seven as another means by which to get stories of law enforcement out to others within and outside of the law enforcement field. We also believe that the print media is the most effective and efficient manner by which to share that information with this market.

As you can see, Twenty-Four Seven is a labor of love that the publishers/editors take a great deal of pride in. It is not a venue for political agendas, nor is it a means by which to further separate law enforcement from the general public. On the contrary, it is our hope that by sharing information, stories and ideas with one another, we can provide a better and more accurate understanding of what we all do in our respective fields, while at the same time removing some of the mystery that has so often surrounded this profession.

We hope that once you have read our profile and understand our goals at Twenty-Four Seven, you will agree that we offer a very professional package that can provide you with a target market suitable for your needs.
